A number of you from around the company have asked for an update on
how my training is going and have also asked for a link to my sponsor page for Children in Crisis. So, here you go . . . .
Training
This has gone well so far.
I completed the Great South Run (10 mile road race) in Portsmouth at the very end of October. I finished in a time of just over 1hr 30 minutes, which was where I wanted to be at that stage of my training.
I have to say, it was a really well organised run with very good changing facilities etc.
So, that race gave me an excellent foundation from which I could then really start working properly on my training.
I’ve now settled into a pattern of running an 8 mile road-based circuit every Tuesday evening, which I do as part of my ‘speed’ training.
Then, every Sunday I go out for my long stamina run, which is a combination of hills, cross-country and some road work. I run for a minimum of 13 miles on these runs, but I am now pushing the distance up every week by at least 2 or 3 miles.
My goal is to get up to full marathon distance (26 miles) sometime before the end of March as I want to ensure I have achieved the distance in training, before the actual day itself.
In between the runs I am doing some conditioning training with Kettlebells to help improve my core strength.
That pretty much sums it all up I think.
Overall, I have set myself a goal of 3hr 30mins for the marathon itself. It’s a tough ask and it’s a full 20mins quicker than when I ran the race before . . . over a decade ago!
Helping Children in Crisis
As I mentioned before, I am running on behalf of Children in Crisis, a London-based charity that focuses on giving underpriviliged children an education.
Their work in London specificially helps kids who’s parents are acaholics or drug addicts.
I know they would be over the moon with any support that you are able to provide, and you can do it here from my Just Giving page:

Thanks in advance for all your support and encouragement!
