Envelope printer and manufacturer, The Envelope Works, has been 
featured again in Print Week, this time in the Reader Reaction section.
Managing Director, Mark Farrimond, was asked to provide his industry persepective on the current wage increases that are being enforced upon the print industry from the BPIF and Unite Unions.
Mark’s evaluation of the situation is documented below:
“This type of blanket annual pay review that is imposed by the BPIF and Unite is an approach that is out of date in today’s tough economic environment.
We prefer to reward staff on an individual basis and base their pay increases on their personal contribution, commitment and value to the business.
Naturally, we do have to relate this to the overall performance of the business. However, we have found that in our experience, if you have the right people in your business in the first instance, the two often go hand in hand.”
